As mentioned back on June 23, 55 Model-T Fords have been "speeding" across America, re-enacting the great Ocean to Ocean Endurance Contest of 1909. Today the cars began the final stretch, the decent of Snoqualmie Pass and navigating of the Sunset Highway into Seattle and the University of Washington. Once at the University of Washington, the contestants will be give a lecture, I mean listen to a speech by the tubby one, Mayor Greg Nickels. My guess the speech will consist of one or more of the following topics; talk about the need for more zero emission vehicles, "urban villages (i.e. condos!), and the evils of families with dogs and or children. Lucky for the those Model-T owners this won't happen until Sunday. Until then they will continue to be treated like royalty. Today, they had a salmon bake at the Meadowbrook Farm and were paraded through the streets of North Bend and Snoqualmie on their way to Issaquah. Tomorrow they will be the toast of the town there. I took the day off today, to enjoy these fine old cars and take a few photos. Dusty Moments, America's Finest Blog, is dedicated to photography and the American way of life. With each old snap shot or Kodachrome slide, a bit of the psyche of the person behind the camera is revealed, while simultaneously creating mysteries as to the true nature of the subject's story. The words within this blog are my own. Many of the photographs are mine too, but included also are the dusty moments from my parents and grandparents, as well as, junk store finds.
