What a year; we lost ol' W, got the O, spent a lot of money, while all the time we all got a bit older. But really, it seemed much like any other year. Personally I had a good year, but I'm looking forward to a new year with new stuff and new happens. So tonight my personal favorite photos of the year. And as much as, I love the sunset photos, which are probably some of the best stuff I've done ever, if not the best, my favorite photo of the year is the first one. Maybe it is because I really like this 1926 Bentley and wish it where mine, or maybe something else. What is your favorite?
Dusty Moments, America's Finest Blog, is dedicated to photography and the American way of life. With each old snap shot or Kodachrome slide, a bit of the psyche of the person behind the camera is revealed, while simultaneously creating mysteries as to the true nature of the subject's story. The words within this blog are my own. Many of the photographs are mine too, but included also are the dusty moments from my parents and grandparents, as well as, junk store finds.

A Sesquicentennial and the End of the Year As We Know It
Today is the sesquicentennial of the creation of Klickitat County, I would spend a lot of time waxing on about Klickitat County, but since the population of county is roughly the same as it was 150 years, I'm going to move on to other things. Things such as, the year in review. You may remember last year when I said I would not do a year end retrospective and then two days later changed my mind. Well this year no grand statements, but instead two year end retrospectives. Tonight's will be best of the dusty stuff and then later in the week, my favorite photos of 2009. Again, redefining blogging excitement, but only the sort that keeps me off the no fly lists. As you probably know our government spend at a rate of twice it's revenue stream for the year. So keeping with current trends, tonight's 10 photos represent my top 5 "dusty" photos of 2009.

Nothing to Say
At the end of the Christmas weekend, there is really nothing to be witty about. I have run out of wit. Although maybe I should make you all stare at a white screen for a hour and while you keep your hands where they can be seen. Maybe the terrorists have won, now on International flights, you will have to two options after hours upon hours in an airplane, you can stare blankly for a hour, or you might have to speak with the person next to you, terrible options. I you choose the former, here are pictures to fill up your mind. Bears in a zoo!

Christmas Night
After a pleasant day of gift giving and gift opening, I am waiting for my kid to calm down enough to fall asleep. So far that seems to be a pipe dream. Still all in all a very nice day and really a Christmas to remember, since it was the first that the boy really sort of understood what was going on. When he opened his final gift from "Santa," what a happy little guy. So tonight in honor of Christmas, pictures of really happy kids on Christmas Day.

Christmas Creek
Today is the 91st anniversary of the Boxley Burst. Boxley Creek is a small stream that is fed by Rattlesnake Lake via glacial moraine, it runs a couple miles down to the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. Normally it is a small stream, but back in December of 1918, a series of events changed the creek into a 150 foot wide raging river of debris. In October 1918, the Cedar Falls Dam had been completed on the Cedar River, through the fall the water rose behind the dam and turn the water also started to rise in Rattlesnake Lake. Then in December it started raining heavily, which saturated the hillside above Boxely Creek. By December 23 there was just too much water and hillside gave way and when it did it sent hundreds of thousands of gallons of water rock down to the valley below. In its path was the town of Edgewick, which was completely destroyed by burst in the dark of night. But nobody died, thanks too Charles Moore the night watchman, you see Charles noticed that the water in the creek was rising a foot or two a minute and realized something bad was happening. Charles then tied down the mill's whistle and then went door to door waking the town's folk. All 60 residents managed to get to higher ground, thanks to Charles. If you spend some time in North Bend, especially during the Holiday season, you will see the name Christmas Creek around, some locals refer to Boxley as Christmas Creek because of the happens of December 23, 1918.
Tonight a couple photos of Boxley Creek from near the burst, if you ever get the chance go to the Cedar River Watersheld Education Center and check out the photos of aftermath of the burst. Sort of looks Mt. St. Helensque. Read more here: http://www.historylink.org/index.cfm?displaypage=output.cfm&file_Id=2426

Done (Finally)
Moments ago, a great event happened, I finally finished scanning my family's photos. I started this process back in August of 2008. Oh what a difficult time it was for America back then, now everything is better, so Merry Christmas! Kidding aside, this has been difficult task at times, the mundane suburban life, I remember from my youth, does not translate into interesting photographs. Honestly, after awhile, looking at another birthday cake, just got boring. In fact it seems even more boring than when I was living it. Sad. But that pasted and I found a few interesting photos to push me along. So tonight the 1,820th and final photo from the Williams' Family Photo Collection, my dad, fishing at Yellowstone Park 1970. I like the hat.
Enjoy

Christmas is Coming, But I'm Still Washing the Dishes
In honor of Christmas and mostly in honor of the title of this blog, pictures of people washing dishes. Good times, during the most wonderful time of the year. Speaking of, if the Senate passes the health care "reform" bill this week, it will certainly be the most wonderful time of the year, for the insurance industry, as they stand to make a bunch of cash from this "reform." Never mind the politics, do your dishes.

More from the Winter Celebration Zone
In honor of the early Christmas gift given to Mariner fans, tonight we examine trees with gifts beneath them. For those of you who don't care about the Mariners, well enjoy the festive tree with gifts waiting to be opened. Then think back to when you were 5 or 6 years old and you sneaked out of your room to check out all the gifts under the tree, after your parents had gone to bed of course.
For Mariner fans, don't think back to December 2004, when on back to back days we signed Sexson and Beltre, even though it seemed good, it just didn't work out to well. Instead Mariner fans remember glory days of the late 90's, because we are going to win the West. Also Mariner fans, one might look under the tree and hope that one of the gifts is the power bat we so deary need. Anyway go M's!
Enjoy
