It's the Longest Week Ever

Between work, pandemic and Cicely's long hours, this week seems to have go on for about 32 and two-thirds years. Why is it, that when you are having the best day or week ever that does not move at a glacial pace. Not fair I say. Now I would like to remind my readers to cover your month when you cough and wash your hands often. Anyway tonight a picture, I'm not sure what of, because I haven't decided yet.
Enjoy

One Year

Today marks yet another milestone for America's Finest Blog, my one year anniversary. Yippee! But oh what a year it has been, full of highs and lows, and this blog. To the nearly tens of readers, I say thank you once again. In the last year I've scanned nearly 6,500 photographs and I've learned much about my family and friends. I've tried to share some with you, 3 or 4 days a week. The good news is I'm still plugin' away, so I'll continue to share dusty moments. I suppose that could be bad news too. Anyway tonight's photo was taken in Seattle's Maple Leaf neighborhood circa 1993. Loosely translated it says, "I do not work you but..."

Gone Fishin'

Well this weekend marks the opening of fishing season in many of our lakes and streams. I my youth this meant going fishing at Jameson Lake with my dad and grandfather. It was a time of stories and sitting, mostly sitting. I do have many fond memories of those fishing trips and that goes for fishing in general. So in the interest of fond memories and opening day and the big one that made it to film, I give you pictures of people and fish.

It's Earth Day, So Watch Out for the Energy Vampires

It's Earth Day, I hope you bought it something nice. I'm not going into the politics of this day, nor am I going to mock those who think we actually can destroy the earth. Instead, I'll say we follow the State of Washington's Department of Ecology advice and watch out for energy vampires in your home and office. Anyway here are a few pictures of the Earth.

The 21st Century Exposition

Well happened at the World's Fair 47 years ago today. Because the World's Fair opened in Seattle 47 years ago today. I personally don't have many if any photos of the great icons of the Fair, the Space Needle, the Monorail, the Gayway (Fun Forest) or the Bubbleator. I remember we had a Space Needle Fair glass growing up, that was fun and thanks to my sister-in-law I have four World's Fair glasses to drink tasty beverages from in the summer time. But no photos, I suppose I simply have taken the Monorail and the Space Needle for granted all these years. However my grandparents did take a photo of the fair and it is that photo bring you tonight.
Bring Back the Bubbleator!

Sunny Days

Sunny days, especially sunny days that occur after a prolonged bout of February make it hard to get into the mood to blog and for that matter, transfer images. Frankly, I haven't been doing much of that lately, even before the return of the sun. But the sun just doesn't make it easier. Then I read that today marks the 32nd anniversary of the passage of a bill that meant in the words of Jean Godden, "you'll never pay to go," in the State of Washington again. That's right the bill that killed pay toilets was passed on this date. So I was going to feature pictures of restrooms tonight. Alas, apparently I have never, nor has anyone in my family ever taken a picture of a restroom. Go figure. So I'm back to the sunny days theme I guess, so here's a couple of sunny day photos. Blogging excitement once again. Okay the first photo, well I have no clue who it is, the second photo is my Dad and little sister, circa 1972 (ish).

Better Weather

So Mr. Weather Guy says that spring will actually show up this coming week. I for one am hoping that Mr. Weather Guy is right. Anyway, if you have forgotten what blue sky looks like, here is a picture.

Weekend in the San Juans

I thought I'd post a couple photos from last weekend's family fun on the San Juan Islands. Also I will provide a link to some of the raw photos.

New February 13th

I wanted to show pictures of an Easter from long ago or even pictures from our lovely Easter weekend on San Juan Island, but a more important topic has made itself visible. It's time to consider renaming April for what it really is, New February. Consider it has snowed more this April than in February and in general the weather has been just as awful as any given February. To those who would like to remind the blogger of the 3 nice days we had this month, get over it, snow fell of either side of the nice days. Besides February occasionally even has a sunny day.
Now some will say this is due to "Global Warming", or its' new name "Climate Change." With the new name, we are still able to fear the future, even if it's snowing in April. I know, it sounds like I don't believe in "Climate Change," I do, so if you don't or you don't know what it is, go to Google and type in "Climate Change" and about 47 million results will appear, have fun reading and please use a reusable energy source. If you don't want to read, just envision a future of Waterworld, meets A.I. meets Planet of the Apes, meet Thundarr.
Anyway, back to my rant, some non-believers may say that, "Climate Change," along with "terrorists" are just the latest way the power hungry politicians have conjured up to keep the population scared. Belief in an Utopian world of tolerance and cooperation without wind bag politicians and Free Masons, could have easily arisen after the fall of the USSR, but lucky for us, the powerful people had plan B waiting. I mean have you actually seen the Arctic Ocean devoid of all ice, have all the penguins and polar bears actually died?
Maybe its all a plot by politicians to get you to give up your car and to move to the city or within the borders of the regional transportation authority. To give up land ownership for a condo with earth toned faux wood siding and brushed aluminium ascents in the city. Then vilify those who stay in homes, as "Libertarian" or worse "Republican."
Why move folks into cities? Why it's to enrich targets for "terrorists." If "terrorists" only attack cities, then if more folks live in cities the more folks will be scared of "terrorists." Therefore, happily giving up civil rights for their own good. Just assume that many people saw Orwell's 1984, as a goal, not a pitfall.
Okay, I'm sounding a little like the callers to late night talk radio, it must mean it's time for bed. In closing all I really know, is that it is April 13th and today it snowed and I pictures to prove it.
Happy New February 13th

April 11th

Tomorrow, April 11th, would be my mother's 70th birthday. It's hard to believe my mother would have been that old, had she lived. When I think of 70 year old people, I think of her mother. I guess it is yet another sign that I'm getting old myself, at least when trips around the sun are counted. And guess that is part of it, I don't feel my age, so it's hard to believe those closest to me have gotten older. In my mind people tend to be some sort of ideal age, that is probably related to some sort of ideal age of myself in relation to them. Meanwhile, since my mom would be 70 tomorrow, I thought I post some pictures of her from a younger age. These photos were taken my grandmother, in the 1940's.
Enjoy and Happy Easter

Plaid Pants!

Looking at photos of myself from the early part of my life, it is quite obvious that I or my mom, really enjoyed plaid pants. I especially like the plaid pants with the Converse-like Sears' shoes, that is fashion forward. It maybe that the fact I look at too many old photos or maybe it's the beer, but I kind of like the plaid pants.
Enjoy my pants

That's one snappy outfit, and check out my dad's jacket - NICE!

Dad, take a picture of me I'm wearing plaid pants!

200th Super Exciting Super Spectacular Post

Oh what to blog about on such an important event. Okay so maybe it's not such an important event, in light of North Korean "Space" rocket tests and Obama's speech on a nuke free world, or for that matter what occurred in Graham. But have decided, or I had previously decided that this 200th super exciting, super spectacular post would be about my sisters and I. Why, I don't have a really good reason, in a grand philosophical sense, but those of you who read this blog know that there is seldom a grand philosophical reason for anything published here. I have been transferring the Williams' family photo archive for sometime now, so maybe it has to do with the amount of photo's I've seen of my sisters and I that have led me to choose this as my topic for a historic post. Or maybe I just want to show how dashing I looked in early 70's. Anyway so tonight it is photos from the 70's featuring my sisters Jerrie and Deb. They had different names in the 70's but so did I, we don't use them anymore so we won't print them here. To everyone who occasionally reads this thing, thanks again and please stick around, I'm not stopping yet. So here's to the 70's, my sisters' and this, America's Finest Blog's 200th post.
Cheers

Disneyland Now Vs. Then

Disneyland has changed a bit over the years, I have pictures to provide it! Okay so basically everyone knows Disneyland has changed. But I do have some pictures from 1976 and 2009 so we can all compare and contrast.

Duck and Crow

Well It's April 1st and the joke is on us once again, climate change apparently means it will snow in Seattle through April 10th. Thanks free masons, big oil and the Chinese electric power industry or insert your favorite real or not so real secret or not so secret organization here. Anyway I thought that today I would show off some pictures of ducks that I took recently at Lake Sammamish State Park. Sidebar, you should support your State Parks and watch out for our State Legislature, they have a list of parks to close, if they cannot figure out the budget issues. Personally I'd prefer to have parks over their individual pet programs. But that's just me. Like I said, pictures of Ducks. Blogging excitement once again from America's finest blog; Dusty Moments -- America's Finest Blog. And I promise once again to do something interesting real soon.
